Prices, renewal terms and the billing name are shown before you pay, cancellation is a button in settings, and card payments have a 24-hour refund window.

The catch is everything beyond text. Images, image-to-video, voice messages, Voice Calls (beta) and the live features all spend the same 100 tokens a month, and Candy AI only shows what each action costs after you sign up. If pictures and voice are why you're here, budget for tokens or look at an app that publishes its media prices.

What Candy AI Free Actually Gives You

Most AI girlfriend apps describe their free tier vaguely in marketing copy. Candy AI's help center and terms are specific, and the answer is short.

5 messages in total. Not per day: 5 messages across all characters, for the life of the free account. The terms state the same cap.

One custom character. Free accounts can use the creator once, which is the most useful part of the free account: you see the options (realistic or anime, female or male, 12 personality types, 43 occupations, 19 relationship types, 24 kink tags) before you pay.

One image. One generated image to see the style. Everything else visual runs on tokens, which free accounts don't get.

That's a demo, not a free tier. If you want to chat for free for weeks, Candy AI isn't built for it; community sites like Janitor AI or SpicyChat are. Use the free account to check the creator, then decide on a paid plan.

What Premium Adds — And What It Costs

Candy AI sells one tier, Premium, at three billing lengths. We loaded the subscription page from France and it showed euros only; local taxes may apply. Prices seen on 20 October 2026:

• 1 month: €9.99 for the first month, then €13.99 a month.
• 3 months: €26.97 per quarter (€8.99 a month).
• 12 months: €47.88 per year (€3.99 a month), labelled "70% off" against the monthly price. It was the same price on 29 September, so it isn't a flash sale.

All three renew automatically at the same price and term, and all three include exactly the same features:

• Unlimited text messages. Chatting never costs tokens, according to the help center.
• Your own custom characters from the creator, realistic or anime, female or male.
• 18+ image and video generation. Videos are made by turning a generated image into a short clip; a "Build Your Video" tool adds presets.
• The Live Action experience (mobile, selected characters; some actions cost tokens).
• 100 tokens a month for images, video, voice messages, Voice Calls (beta), Candy Cam and Candy Roulette (5 tokens a minute). Yearly subscribers get their 100 tokens monthly.

Premium Plus adds 330 tokens a month, live audio, a persona so characters know who you are, 20 memory slots and 5 cloned chats. Its price is only shown after sign-up.

The token price of an image, a clip or a voice message isn't on any public page, and token packs sit behind the login. Candy AI's referral page values 200 tokens at "$20", so treat 100 tokens as a modest monthly media allowance, not unlimited pictures.

Who Should Upgrade (and Who Shouldn't)

Upgrade if:

You mainly want unlimited text chat. This is where Candy AI is strongest on value: €47.88 for a year of unlimited messages, with the same features as the monthly plan. Pick the 12-month plan; if you're not ready for a year, the 3-month plan still costs a third less per month than monthly billing.

You want realistic and anime companions, or male ones, in one app. Candy AI has Girls, Anime and Guys sections and a creator that covers all three.

You want easy billing. Cards, crypto, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted; cancellation is self-serve in settings; card payments can be refunded within 24 hours if you've used 20 tokens or fewer, and EU and UK residents get a 14-day withdrawal right on the first purchase, minus what they used. Charges show as "EverAI" on your statement.

Think twice if:

You want lots of pictures, clips or voice. 100 tokens a month has to cover all of it, Candy Roulette alone would use a month's allowance in 20 minutes, and the cost of each action is only visible after sign-up. Premium Plus or token packs are the routes Candy AI offers; check the token prices in the app before committing to a year.

You want to chat free for a while first. 5 messages won't tell you much. If you need a long free trial, start with a community site or an app with a daily free allowance, like Secrets AI (20 messages a day).

Privacy is your top concern. Candy AI's privacy notice says messages may be passed to third-party AI providers and that de-identified chats may be reviewed by humans to train its models.

Candy AI is worth it for the right user, and that user chats more than they generate. At €3.99 a month on the yearly plan, unlimited text chat with your own realistic or anime companion is about as cheap as this category gets, and the billing is unusually clear: prices and renewal terms up front, self-serve cancellation, a 24-hour refund window for card payments.
