Promptchan is one of the few NSFW generators that publishes the Gem price of every action, from a standard image to a 10-second video with voice, and it now adds AI girlfriend chat and voice on the same account. This page tells you what each plan gets you, which one to pick, and what to know before paying.

It replaces our April review, which described Promptchan as a pure image generator with no chat and listed older plans. Everything below comes from pages anyone can check: the pricing page, the Gem pack prices the site loads from its billing server, the API guide that lists per-action Gem costs, the image, video and chat tutorials, the terms of service (last updated 6 August 2025), the refund policy (12 August 2026), the privacy policy (2 October 2026), the support FAQ and two Trustpilot profiles. It is not a hands-on test, so there are no sample images, clips or chat logs below, and no verdict on output quality. Where something sits behind the login wall, we say so. We loaded the pages from France; Promptchan showed prices in US dollars.

What You Get with Promptchan

Promptchan is a web app at promptchan.com for generating NSFW images and short videos from text prompts and chatting with AI companions. The terms and privacy policy name VisionAI Labs Limited, with a registered address at The Black Church, St. Mary's Place, Dublin, Ireland, as the operator. The site runs in ten languages, and its homepage counter claims 11,184,140 users worldwide, a figure we can't verify.

• Create: text-to-image in realistic, anime, illustrated and stylised looks, with poses, a negative prompt and quality settings.
• Tweak: edit an image by describing the change (outfit, background, pose, lighting) instead of starting over.
• Video: animate an image or generate a clip from a prompt, with sound and Extend. Pro only.
• Chat: AI girlfriend, boyfriend and anime companions, with voice messages and calls.
• Explore: a public gallery where you can "Clone" any public creation's prompt and settings.
• Domain: Promptchan says it moved from promptchan.ai to promptchan.com. On 20 October promptchan.ai did not resolve for us, and the support FAQ says older domains and mirrors are no longer maintained.

Images, Tweak & Styles

The generator page describes text-to-image with style switching, pose and composition control, a negative prompt, Clone-and-remix from the gallery, and upscaling on Pro. Here is what Promptchan's own pages say about cost and quality:

• Models and cost: the API guide prices a standard image at 1 Gem, XL models at 2, and Realism XL 2 or Anime XL 2 at 4. Extreme quality adds 1, Max adds 2, Face Enhance adds 1. The beginner tutorial says the website charges "roughly one per image".
• Quality tiers by plan: the pricing page lists HD images on Plus and Premium and "4K AI Images" on Pro. The upgrade screen describes Max quality as "our highest-detail render, at up to 4K".
• Styles and poses by plan: Basic on Plus, More on Premium, All plus custom poses on Pro.
• Consistent faces: an "AI Character" feature keeps the same face across images and videos. Preset faces are free; using any other image as the face needs a higher plan.
• Editing: Promptchan's current pages don't mention inpainting; editing goes through Tweak, which works from a written instruction.

AI Video

Video is the biggest addition since April, and it is part of Pro: the pricing page and FAQ say full-length AI videos and Extend are Pro features. The video tutorial describes two routes, animating an image you made on Promptchan or writing a video prompt, plus settings for orientation, quality and sound.

Promptchan's API guide lists the Gem costs:

• Video v4: 15 Gems to animate an image, 13 plus the first image's cost from a prompt. High quality +10, sound +3.
• Video v4-voice: 18 Gems for 6 seconds, 30 for 10 seconds, sound and speech included. 48 fps adds 3 or 5, high resolution 13 or 22.
• Extend: 15 Gems.

The tutorial adds that the cost is shown on the video button before you commit. On Pro's 800 Gems, that is about 44 six-second voice clips or 53 basic animations a month if you spend Gems on nothing else. For broader comparisons, see our NSFW AI video generator rankings.

AI Chat & Voice

Promptchan's chat page describes companions from a Discover feed or built by you, a texting-style chat mode and a story mode you direct, voices, voice calls, and "Create image from scene", which generates a picture from the conversation's context. Switching between chat and story mode clears the conversation history, per the chat FAQ.

• Message costs: the chat tutorial says free accounts get a handful of starter messages, then messages cost "a gem or two depending on the model". The API guide lists 0.4 Gems a message on the larger model and 0.2 on the smaller one.
• By plan: Plus lists 2× chat usage, Premium 5×, Pro unlimited chat.
• Voice: a voice message costs 1 Gem and a call 2 Gems, according to both the pricing FAQ and the chat FAQ.
• Custom characters: included with Pro, per the pricing and chat pages. Chatting with ready-made characters is free.

Adult Content, Rules & Privacy

Promptchan markets itself as uncensored, and the chat page says conversations "are not filtered down to a corporate script". The rules are clear:

• Banned content: the terms prohibit content involving minors, "high school settings, or characters presented as minors", incest (including fictional), bestiality, scat, snuff-style violence and any depiction of celebrities or real people without consent.
• Moderation: the content moderation policy describes automated scanning of prompts, outputs and uploads, community flagging and a human moderation team. The support FAQ says the filters sometimes block harmless prompts, and that repeatedly trying to get round them can restrict an account permanently.
• Safe Mode: the app's settings text says Safe Mode hides adult content until you turn it off, and that some regions need a quick age check, handled by a partner called Didit, before you can. Logged out, the homepage gallery we saw showed only clothed adult characters.
• Privacy: private generation, which keeps creations out of the public gallery, is a paid-plan feature. The support FAQ says chats are always private to your account. Under the terms, anything you make in public mode can be reused by Promptchan and other users.

We saw no characters or tags on the public pages that suggested minors.

Pricing & Plans

The pricing page showed these monthly prices in US dollars on 20 October 2026, from a French connection:

Gem packs. You can also buy Gems outright. The prices the site loaded on 20 October: 50 Gems for $4.99, 250 for $14.99, 900 for $29.99, 1,800 for $59.99, 3,000 for $99.99 and 10,000 for $299.99. The pricing FAQ says paid plans get 50% off extra Gems. Packs don't unlock Pro features such as video.

The free tier. The pricing page promises "a daily allowance of free Gems" with no card, and the Earn Gems section describes a daily claim "with a big bonus on day 7". It's a good way to try the generator before choosing a plan.

The Math: What a Gem Buys

Everything on Promptchan spends Gems, so the useful number is the price per Gem. The table divides each plan's monthly price by its Gem allowance, then multiplies by the Gem costs in Promptchan's API guide. It ignores Pro's Casual Generations and unlimited chat, which add value on top, and it assumes the website charges what the API guide lists.

Which Plan Should You Pick?

• You want video, custom characters or unlimited chat: Pro. $33.99 a month is the only plan with AI video, Extend and custom characters, and at $0.042 a Gem it has the lowest per-Gem price of the three plans, before counting the unlimited Casual Generations and unlimited chat. 800 Gems cover about 44 six-second voice clips a month.
• You make images regularly but don't need video: Premium. $23.99 for 400 Gems matches the per-Gem rate of a one-off pack, and adds HD images, private generation, 5× chat usage and half-price Gem packs.
• You only want a few images: a Gem pack, not Plus. For the same $14.99, a pack buys 250 Gems once and Plus buys 100 a month. Plus adds HD quality, private generation, more chat and half-price packs, but for images alone the pack gives more. Start with the free daily Gems to see if you like the results.

Annual billing exists, with Gems credited monthly, but its price only appears at checkout, so compare it there against the monthly price before you commit.

Before You Pay

None of these is a reason to avoid Promptchan, but each one changes how you should buy it.

Plan details worth knowing

• Casual Generations: Pro's unlimited images are slower, Standard-quality images on the SD, XL and XL+ styles (not XL 2), one at a time, run on spare server capacity, may be unavailable at busy times, and have cooldowns. They don't work with AI Character.
• Annual prices: the refund policy and the checkout text describe annual plans billed once a year with Gems credited monthly. The public pricing page shows no annual prices; they only appear at checkout, behind the login wall.
• Promotions: the pricing FAQ says promotional pricing "is shown at checkout", and the upgrade screens include "50% off" and "Applies to First Month Only" labels. Plan around the full monthly price, which is what renews.
• Free Gems: the app's own text includes the message "Your daily Gems have run out for good", which suggests the free claims stop at some point. We couldn't see how long they last without an account.
• Voice calls by plan: the chat tutorial says voice is not tied to a plan, but the pricing table lists "Voice Call" only under Pro. We couldn't settle that without an account.
• Web vs API prices: the website's "a gem or two" per message and the API guide's 0.2 to 0.4 Gems may differ, so check the cost shown in the app.

What it doesn't do

• No uploads: the support FAQ says you can't upload your own photos, use a real person's face, import images from other tools or add custom models, and that no plan unlocks this. Animate only works on images generated on Promptchan.
• 24-hour storage: generations you don't download or publish are deleted after 24 hours, according to the support FAQ. Save what you want to keep.
• No store app found: the support FAQ refers to App Store and Google Play subscriptions and the pricing page says "Web, iOS and Android", but on 20 October we found no listing under the Promptchan name in Apple's or Google's store search.

Billing, refunds & who runs it

• Company: VisionAI Labs Limited, The Black Church, St. Mary's Place, Dublin D07 P4AX, Ireland. The terms fall under Irish law, with disputes going to Irish courts.
• Refunds: the refund policy (updated 12 August 2026) allows refunds within 30 days of a subscription charge, annual renewals included, but only if you haven't used "any significant AI services" in that time. You must cancel first, then contact support. Requests are reviewed case by case, with a 7-business-day target.
• No refund: crypto payments are final, and Gem pack purchases are "not normally refundable", even unspent Gems.
• Cancelling: self-serve, from Settings. The plan runs to the end of the paid period. App Store or Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled in the store.
• Payment: card on the website, crypto through NOWPayments (fixed-period, not recurring, per the terms), G2A, and in-app purchases.
• Account rules: buying a second plan starts a second subscription rather than replacing the first, deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription, and accounts linked to a chargeback are "permanently restricted", all according to the support FAQ.

User feedback

On 20 October 2026 Promptchan's Trustpilot profile for promptchan.com showed 4.4 out of 5 from 209 reviews, with 69% five-star and 8% one-star, which is what our User Feedback sub-score uses. Read it with some context. The profile is unclaimed, and many of the five-star reviews are one-liners clustered in July 2026. Promptchan's own Earn Gems code includes a task titled "Rate us on Trustpilot", whose second step reads "Leave a positive review", so part of that score was gathered through an in-app reward. The older promptchan.ai profile, now closed with 68 reviews, holds the critical reviews from 2024 and early 2025: charges after cancelling, Gems disappearing, overloaded servers, removed features and unanswered support. The most recent review we saw, a one-star from 13 October 2026, reports bugs, crashes and poor support.

Promptchan puts explicit images, video with sound, consistent faces and chat on one account, with every action priced up front. Pick Pro for video, or Gem packs for occasional images.

On features it covers almost everything a generator can offer, from text-to-image and Tweak editing to 4K images, AI Character and video with voice; the gaps are batch generation and a store app we could find. Billing earns full marks under our method: monthly prices shown before sign-up, a named Irish company, self-serve cancellation and a 30-day refund window if you haven't used the service much. Its Trustpilot rating is high, though partly gathered through an in-app reward.

What holds it back is plan design rather than the product: chat costs Gems below Pro, video and custom characters need the $33.99 plan, the $14.99 Plus plan buys fewer Gems than a one-off pack, and annual prices only show at checkout. Choose the plan that fits how you'll use it and Promptchan is an easy recommendation.
